Lab Policies

Workstations

  • Food and drink are strictly forbidden in the Computer Lab.
  • Work quietly - even whispers can disturb others.
  • Be polite and use appropriate language in the lab and on your computer.
  • Computer stations are to be left tidy; do not leave papers behind.
  • No more tan two (2) persons at a workstation at any one time.
  • Do not off the PCs - lab staff will look after this.
  • Close all open applications on the computer you are using before leaving the Lab - The Lab and its representatives are not responsible for data (e.g. personal information) left on the computers that could result from failure to logout of your e-mail or other applications.
  • The computers are not to be used to send unsolicited email (spam), browse web sites that may offend other site users, cause damage of any kind to another computer in the lab or elsewhere on the internet, or for any other unauthorized illegal, or unethical purpose.

Personal Files

  • Each person is responsible for saving his/her own work.
  • Save your data on a floppy disk, CD, or other removable storage - ask how if necessary!
  • Do not leave disks or CDs behind - make sure to take them with you.
  • The Lab and its representatives are not responsible for the loss of any data due to: User failure to save work, hardware failure, viruses, etc..

Computer Bookings

  • Reservations for computer time may be made up to one week in advance - by phone or in person - but are not required.
  • If you are late for a booked time, after ten minutes the reserved time will be opened to others.
  • If there are others waiting, computer time is limited to 30 minutes.
  • If you cannot come during a time you reserved, please call to cancel.
  • The Lab will often be in use for a class, so check ahead!

Printers

  • Each user is responsible for any charges resulting from printing from his/her computer.
  • To prevent damage to the printers, only authorized lab personnel may change paper or ink in the printers.

Continued use of this facility requires only that you sign in and sign out and follow the Policies and Procedures of the Centre.

By signing in you agree to follow the centre's policies and procedures, as above.

Use of File Sharing software will result in loss of C@P Site privileges.
