I recently had someone come in for one-on-one help with computers, and she asked me about translation. She wanted to know about translating some letters she had received in French, to her mother tongue, English. This brings me to a great site, unknown to many people but which could be useful to a lot of them. This site is called Google Translate, and here's a brief overview of it :

Enter the text which you want to translate into the larger box. This can be in any language, but we'll use a sentence in French:

Scroll down a little bit, and the "Translate From" language should be automatically detected. If not, change it to the appropriate language. Now, change the "Translate To" language to the language you want to translate to. The default is English.

You should now see your translation in the box below! Remember, this is a computer, so things may not always be 100% perfect!
